Getting Started – Please Read

Welcome to the Doctoral Skills Development Programme Website.

You can browse the entire website for information, but in order to start to use the site to book onto courses, you need to log-in/register (as appropriate).

Students using the Research Student Log can log directly onto the Skills site using their Log userid and password (i.e. their UCL userid and password).

Other students will need to register on the Skills Development Programme Website to book on courses and to log their training points.

Course List

This will take you to the heart of the Skills Development Programme - courses offered centrally under the Doctoral Skills Development Programme, and the Bloomsbury Postgraduate Skills Network. You can register to attend these courses (in which case your points will be automatically added to your training record), or if the particular course has an external registration procedure you can log points for having taken part.

Once logged-in/registered you will see the following menu:

My Department Training
This is a list of training available/recommended to research students registered in your Department. You can log points here for attending any of the training on the list. Your department will provide information on the practical arrangements for the training (ie, how to register for a place, details of the venues and times etc.)

On this page is also a list of generic activities, common to research students across UCL, for which you can also log points (activities such as Conference attendance, research away from UCL etc.

My Diary
You can access a diary of upcoming training you have booked by clicking on "My Diary".

My Training
You can click on "My Training" for a history of training undertaken and points accrued.

A few courses have preliminary reading to undertake before the course. Please check "Handouts/Presentations" when you book a course to see if any documents are associated with it. Many of the course presentations are also made available to you here after the course has run, as a useful resource for future work.

My Details
You can edit your details as they appear on the Skills Development Programme System here.
